VT Digger (Op-Ed): Local Journalism and Civic Infrastructure

Together with the Director of the Center for Research on Vermont Richard Watts, I wrote an op-ed about the critical role that local journalism plays in a strong civic infrastructure. Under Richard’s direction, CRVT and the Reporting & Documentary Storytelling program at the University of Vermont are supporting thriving newsrooms across the state and revitalizing hyperlocal coverage. It’s an incredible opportunity for students, an important resource for the state, and a scalable model for other states under threat of becoming news deserts.
